On Friday, the discriminatory Public Prosecutor in Lebanon, Judge Ahmed Rami Al-Hajj, issued an arrest warrant against Syrian Major General Adel Issa, the former commander of the 17th Division in the Bashar al-Assad regime’s army. Issa was arrested on suspicion of committing crimes related to “premeditated and premeditated murder, torture that led to death, and provoking internal and sectarian fighting,” according to the file received from the Syrian judiciary. Judge Al-Hajj is studying the request to retrieve Issa, and will make his decision early next week on whether to hand him over to the Syrian authorities or not.
