Member of the Development and Liberation Bloc, Qasim Hashem, stressed the need for UNIFIL forces to continue performing their role in the southern region in its various aspects, stressing the need to complete what it started, especially the implementation of Resolution 1701.
Hashem stressed the commitment of Lebanon and the people of the south to the survival of UNIFIL, due to the strong social relationship that links it with the people of the areas where it is deployed, and the importance of continuing the role required of it as a witness to Israel’s crimes and practices against the southern border areas and its violations of international humanitarian law.
He concluded: “We hope that there will be an active role for the countries participating in UNIFIL and the friends of Lebanon in seeking to reconsider the UN Security Council resolution and renew the mandate for a new term, because the need for their role is still present and necessary at this stage.” Therefore, Lebanon is required to move quickly towards brotherly and friendly countries.”
