The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, said, “The government entered under the name of the ‘Salvation and Reform Government,’ but it seems that it will emerge under the name of ‘Salvation from Reform.’”
He asked: “What was implemented from the ministerial statement and from the schedule that the Prime Minister spoke about?”
He pointed out that “the movement” asked the government 49 questions in various sectors, but did not receive any answers within the legal time limit.
He added: "The deficit that afflicts the government should not affect the House of Representatives because it has two roles: the first is legislative and the second is supervisory, and the second part should not be deleted."
Bassil addressed the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, requesting that “a date be set for an accountability session for the government,” stressing that “it is not permissible to protect the government in this way by disrupting the work of the House.”
Regarding the framework agreement, he pointed out that “the movement’s issue is neither defending the agreement nor dropping it, but it carries secret points that it has the right to see, and the government must officially announce before the House of Representatives if there is a security annex and unpublished executive security documents related to the framework agreement because Israeli officials say in their statements that they will not withdraw with authorization from the Lebanese authority.”
Regarding the general amnesty law, Bassil said: “We are in favor of lifting oppression, but we are against amnesty for army killers, drug dealers, murderers and rapists of children and women, and against the approved pattern that encourages crime and confirms the principle of impunity.”
He announced that “the movement is seriously considering the issue of submitting an appeal against the general amnesty law and submitted a question to the government regarding Nawaf Salam’s flagrant violation of the constitution by preventing a minister from expressing his opinion in the House of Representatives,” followed by: “Taif is being beaten by his family,” and we demand its implementation.
