The head of the Syndicate of Private Hospital Owners, Pierre Yared, warned of the danger of the collapse of the hospital sector. He pointed out that a number of private hospitals reduced the number of beds and their medical services without being able to increase the wages of their employees and renew their relevant equipment and supplies. Yared called on the Minister of Labor and those in charge of the Social Security Fund to establish a joint committee to conduct a comprehensive evaluation study that determines the true cost of hospital operational costs, the seriousness of commitment to them, and the classification and organization of the course of action of private hospitals. He pointed out that the sector suffers from a very sensitive economic situation in light of the high cost of medical supplies and medicines for incurable diseases globally and a severe shortage in the number of qualified doctors. Yared described the hospital sector as "a jewel that must be preserved locally and regionally, which requires taking a basket of relevant administrative, financial and organizational measures and making the sector an absolute priority."
