Salam discusses supporting the pharmaceutical industry and promoting recovery in the south

Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam received a delegation from the Syndicate of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers in Lebanon, headed by Dr. Carol Abi Karam, who explained after the meeting that the delegation briefed the Prime Minister on the reality of the pharmaceutical industry in Lebanon, which has become an essential sector, and on the most urgent challenges facing this sector, and the requirements that would help it overcome them, ensuring the continuity of providing quality medicine to the citizen at reasonable prices, in addition to securing serums for all hospitals in Lebanon, and enhancing the ability to access export markets.
She added: “President Salam expressed all understanding and encouragement, stressing his interest in this sector and his conviction of the importance of its role. He also directed us to follow up on the necessary laws and measures to enable us to continue our journey and develop the pharmaceutical industry in Lebanon.”
Salam also received Canadian Minister of State for International Development Randeep Sarai, where they discussed the current situation in Lebanon and the region, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between Lebanon and Canada.
The meeting also discussed ways for Canada to support the state’s efforts to advance the path of return and recovery in the south, in light of the limited resources available and the size of the increasing needs, in a way that enhances the state’s ability to meet the needs of returnees and establish stability.
