The Syrian Interior issued the following statement: Today, the Syrian authorities received from the Lebanese authorities the former officer in the army of the former regime, Major General Adel Issa, former commander of the 17th Division and commander of the ground forces in Deir ez-Zor until 2016 AD, who was arrested by the Lebanese judiciary pursuant to a preliminary arrest warrant issued by the Cassation Public Prosecutor in Lebanon. Coordination was made to retrieve him based on a request from the Public Prosecutor of the Republic due to the presence of an arrest warrant issued in absentia against the aforementioned by the Seventh Investigating Judge for the crimes of premeditated murder, facilitating the commission of a felony, intentional killing of more than two people, the crime of torture leading to death, and crimes of assault aimed at provoking civil war and sectarian fighting. The case is being heard before the fourth referral judge in Damascus, in preparation for a decision on referring him to the Damascus Criminal Court.
