The US Special Presidential Envoy to Syria and Iraq, Tom Barrack, confirmed that any serious peace settlement in Lebanon must include Hezbollah and Iran, stressing that bringing the Lebanese parties to the negotiating table is not enough unless the negotiating path takes into account the actual balance of power in the country. Barak said, in an interview with the “Clash Report” platform, published today, Saturday, on the “X” platform, “How will the problem be solved if Hezbollah and Iran are not involved?”, likening the Lebanese situation to a complex puzzle that is difficult to solve without the participation of the parties influential in the decision. He pointed out that Lebanon has become part of the broader confrontation between Iran and Israel, at a time when Israel clings to its security concerns, while Beirut seeks to prevent Lebanon from turning into a bargaining chip between the major powers. Regarding the Golan, Barak stressed that the occupied Golan “belongs to Syria” in accordance with United Nations resolutions and international law. He said: “The Israelis are still occupying the Syrian Golan, contrary to United Nations resolutions and the international system, which stipulates that the Golan belongs to Syria.”
