Representative Nadim Gemayel confirmed that "we still remember the anniversary of Bashir Gemayel's election as President of the Republic because no one came to fill the void that Bashir filled within 44 days." Gemayel said, "Bashir came and achieved the great victory on August 23 and showed the Lebanese that the culture of 'wiping chins' and corruption that we were previously dealing with in politics is wrong and today we lack Bashir's courage and boldness," stressing that Bashir was the one who produced the parties and not the other way around, and the parties cannot produce a "new Bashir."
