During its sixth session, the Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus issued a life imprisonment sentence against the former Mufti of Syria, Ahmed Hassoun.
The court indicated that Hassoun was convicted of committing several crimes, including inciting sectarian strife and exploiting his position.
The court ruled to “seize the convict’s movable and immovable assets and confiscate them for the benefit of the public treasury.”
