The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, circulated the recommendations of the meeting of the National Traffic Safety Committee on 8/24/2026, to be followed up with those concerned, to all of the following: “1- General Directorate of Internal Security Forces: * Follow up and tighten the measures taken in the field of controlling motorcycle violations. * Tightening procedures to control traffic violations that pose a direct threat to the safety of road users, especially performing acrobatic movements while riding a motorbike or dangerous maneuvers while driving vehicles, excessive speed and dangerous transgressions, driving against the direction of traffic, overloading and violating the regulations. - Emphasizing the importance of adhering to using a seat belt and refraining from using the phone while driving. - ⁠Intensifying the use of speed control radars, especially on international and main roads that record high rates of traffic accidents, based on accident statistics. - Strengthening road monitoring in terms of verifying that drivers possess all required documents, such as driving and driving licenses, the receipt of the annual traffic fee, and the compulsory insurance contract for physical and material damages. - Tightening anti-begging measures, especially on public roads. 2- Conservatives: * Giving the issue of traffic safety the necessary importance, following up on the affairs of the governorate in this field, and taking the necessary measures and procedures to enhance traffic safety and reduce sources of risks on the roads. * Circular to municipalities and unions of municipalities to enhance traffic safety measures and take the necessary measures to remove vegetable stands set up on international and main roads due to the risks they pose to traffic safety. 3- Ministry of Public Works and Transport: Incorporating traffic safety requirements into all road projects implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, provided that they include road planning, installation of traffic signals and signage, implementation of road surface markings, construction of pedestrian walkways, and all other measures and equipment necessary to enhance traffic safety. 4- Ministry of Education and Higher Education: Recommending the promotion of traffic safety culture among emerging generations, by including traffic safety concepts and principles within the educational curricula approved in schools and organizing awareness courses in institutes and universities in this regard.”
