The Army Command announced on Wednesday that allegations have recently emerged attributed to hostile Israeli media about positions related to the army and its missions in the south, and other fabricated news. She stressed that the institution’s members are committed to its directives and the tasks assigned to them, and perform their duties based on their belief in their national responsibility to defend Lebanon’s sovereignty, security, and stability, far from any calculations or other considerations. She indicated that the leadership enjoys the confidence of brotherly and friendly countries, which continue to support the army out of their belief in the importance of its role, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances and challenges facing Lebanon. She stressed that the timing of launching and promoting these rumors, at a very precise and sensitive stage, reveals the danger of attempts to target the army and its leadership, sow doubt within the ranks of the institution, and undermine confidence between it and the Lebanese. The army leadership indicated that disinformation campaigns, regardless of the parties behind them, will not affect the cohesion of the military institution or the performance of its duties, and will not deter it from continuing to carry out its missions to preserve Lebanon’s security and stability. The army leadership called on everyone to assume their national responsibilities, not to be drawn into rumors or contribute to their promotion, and to return to the army’s official sources regarding the military institution and its leadership.
