US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the United States “controls” the Strait of Hormuz, noting that “yesterday American forces destroyed 28 boats and ships belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.”
He added: Should we change its name to “Trump Strait” after we took control of it?
Trump said, "Iran was two weeks away from possessing a nuclear weapon," stressing: "I destroyed it."
He pointed out that "allowing Iran to possess a nuclear weapon would have led to its use," adding that the Iranians were "crazy."
He added: Iran has been victorious in proving my point and we are achieving amazing results.
On Tuesday, Trump warned Iran against responding to the recent US strikes, saying that it would face “much tougher and stronger” attacks.
He said: "The American strikes came in response to Iran planting mines in the Strait of Hormuz and launching missiles at a base hosting American forces in Jordan."
Trump warned that “any Iranian response will be met with a stronger American strike,” hinting that the “largest attack” is still expected, and that “very little” will remain of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
