The Israeli army spokesman announced that, as part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Air Force, the Northern Command, and the Intelligence Authority, more than 100 towers used by Hezbollah in the Beirut area were destroyed. Hezbollah used these towers for command and control purposes and to implement terrorist plans against the citizens of the State of Israel and the IDF forces. He also pointed out that Hezbollah deliberately planted these buildings in the heart of civilian circles, in what he considered an additional example of its exploitation of civilians in Lebanon, stressing that the IDF continues to strike Hezbollah forcefully. On the other hand, he announced that the Israeli army had eliminated in Beirut prominent leaders in the unit responsible for coordination between Hezbollah and Palestinian organizations throughout the Middle East, explaining that it had attacked earlier today (Monday) in Beirut and eliminated the so-called Hamza Ibrahim Rakeen, deputy commander of Unit 1800, along with the unit’s operations officer. He pointed out that Unit 1800 is the body responsible for coordination between Hezbollah and the Palestinian organizations in Lebanon, Gaza, Syria, Judea and Samaria, noting that Rakeen also supervised the transfer of members of those organizations to participate in the fight against the forces operating in southern Lebanon. He added that in addition to Rakeen, the operations officer in Unit 1800 and another member of it were also killed, stressing that in additional raids during the day in Beirut and southern Lebanon, Hezbollah headquarters were targeted.
