A top priority... Al-Hajjar calls for adherence to the mechanism for organizing demonstrations

The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, held a meeting in his office, attended by the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, the Governor of the City of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, the Secretary of the Central Internal Security Council, Brigadier General Sami Nassif, the Beirut Police Commander, Brigadier General Imad Al-Jamal, and the head of the Information Division, Brigadier General Mahmoud Qubrosli, which included a discussion of the security situation in the country.
Minister Al-Hajjar briefed those gathered on the practical measures and procedures taken by the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces in various Lebanese regions, especially in Beirut.
Minister Al-Hajjar asked to continue implementing the measures, in coordination with the Lebanese Army, stressing that “preserving security and stability is a top priority, especially at this delicate stage that Lebanon is going through.”
Based on the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities’ keenness to protect internal stability, the security and safety of demonstrators and all citizens, state institutions and public and private property, and to preserve the right to demonstrate and express opinions peacefully, and in light of the delicate stage that requires high awareness and national responsibility,
Minister Al-Hajjar stressed “the need for those concerned with any demonstration, gathering, or sit-in to adhere to the mechanism of submitting information from the competent governor to decide on the necessary organizational measures based on the proposals of the Internal Security Forces, in implementation of the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities’ Resolution No. 1024 dated March 29, 2006.”
