A joint statement was issued by the municipality of Maghdouche, MP Dr. Michel Moussa, the town mayor and the parish priest, which stated: “In order to allow the security services to follow up on the Maghdoucheh issue and the dangerous development that is rejected by all residents and activists in the town, the gathering that was scheduled for six o’clock this evening will be replaced with the following statement: Maghdoucheh activities denounce the attacks that took place yesterday and strongly condemn all actions that disturb security and insult the municipal police, who are responsible for maintaining security and stability. Accordingly, the attendees call on the security forces to assume responsibility for security in the town and to strive diligently to establish a fixed point for the Lebanese army in Maghdouche to remedy the undesirable consequences, and to strike with an iron fist anyone who tampers with civil peace, as the army and security services are required to protect the defenseless people and control the situation. Also, any statement not issued by the municipality of Maghdoucheh is considered false in all its details.”
