Former Progressive Socialist Party head Walid Jumblatt said, “Israel is systematically destroying Lebanese villages and displacing their residents just as it did in Gaza.” He added in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde: “Israel completely destroyed about 60 villages in southern Lebanon, and its wars aim to undermine the regional order.” He continued, saying: "Israel has drawn a 'yellow line' that may expand to include parts of Houran and the Syrian Daraa Governorate." He said: "Hezbollah alone cannot be held responsible for wars because Israel's intentions are not clear," adding that "an attempt to disarm the party by force may lead to a new civil war." Jumblatt considered that "the Lebanese state does not have a real margin for maneuver in the ongoing negotiations in Washington." He pointed out that "Washington forcing Israel to withdraw from the south and respect the ceasefire is close to fantasy."
