The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli attack that targeted a Lebanese army patrol on the Khardali-Nabatieh road this morning and led to the martyrdom of two officers and a soldier who joined the convoy of military and civilian martyrs who preceded them, children, women, ambulance and rescue personnel, and media professionals, to irrigate the land of the precious south with their pure blood. ‏ President Aoun considered that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and international laws and norms, and comes in the context of the ongoing escalation that threatens stability and security in the south, despite the efforts made by Lebanon in the Washington negotiations to put an end to the ongoing Israeli attacks without deterrence. ‏ The President of the Republic extended his deepest condolences to the army leadership and the families of the martyrs, noting the sacrifices of the officer and military martyrs and all the other military martyrs who pay with their blood to defend the nation and its sovereignty, stressing that Lebanon will not be lax in protecting its land and people, and that these attacks will not deter it from adhering to its full national rights. ‏ President Aoun called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and put an end to these repeated attacks, and to ensure respect for the relevant international resolutions, in a way that preserves Lebanon’s security and stability.
