Army Commander Rudolf Heikal held a meeting in Yarzeh, attended by the command staff, commanders of operational units and regiments, and a number of officers, devoted to presenting the current developments in Lebanon and the region, and following up on the security and military situation in light of the continuing Israeli attacks and the challenges associated with the current stage. Heikal began the meeting by holding a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs of the military institution, stressing that their sacrifices will remain a source of pride and honor for the institution and the nation. He stressed that the leadership honors the martyrs and the wounded and preserves their legacy, pointing out that during his visits to their families, he sensed pride in the sacrifices of their children despite great pain, and a firm confidence in the army and belief in its national role. He then paid tribute to the soldiers who continue to perform their duties in various regions, especially in the south, despite the dangers and challenges, stressing that their dedication and discipline embody the established values ​​of the military institution. He said: "During my visit to the leadership of the South Litani Sector in Tyre and the Second Intervention Regiment in Al-Zahrani yesterday, I gained morale from the soldiers and felt their pride in their message." The meeting discussed security and regional developments and their repercussions on Lebanon, and stressed that maintaining security and stability constitutes a firm national priority and prevents the achievement of the Israeli goals of destabilizing internal security, and that the military institution will continue to carry out its missions firmly and responsibly to prevent any threat to civil peace. Regarding the northern and eastern borders, Heikal confirmed that the relationship is good with the Syrian authorities in light of continuous coordination, and that the military units concerned with border control are carrying out their tasks to the fullest extent. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the Lebanese people's confidence in the military institution and enhancing its unity and credibility, and that attempts to undermine or question its role will not affect the resolve of the military or their commitment to performing their duty. He also rejected the sectarian and political exploitation of the army’s position related to the conditions of detainees and the sentences issued against them. The meeting touched on the Army Commander’s visits abroad, calling for not to make speculation about them as they are predetermined and aim to enhance cooperation with all armies of brotherly and friendly countries to support the army’s capabilities, enabling it to continue carrying out its national missions in various circumstances. On the other hand, Heikal explained that the army delegations charged with negotiations and other tasks have no sectarian identity, and that the army’s sect is the military uniform and the homeland. At the conclusion of the meeting, General Heikal praised the performance of the officers and soldiers, calling for the continuation of work with a high level of readiness and discipline, stressing that the success of the military institution is based on the sacrifices of its members and their dedication to serving Lebanon and protecting its people.
