The Tunisia national team suffered a severe loss to Japan, with a score of 4-0, in the match that brought them together in the 2026 World Cup.
The Japanese team started the match strongly, and imposed high pressure from the first minutes, while Elias Al-Sakhiri almost scored a penalty kick for Japan in the first minute. The first goal did not take long, as Daishi Kamada opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a close shot from the left foot into the middle of the goal, after an assist from Keito Nakamura.
After the goal, the Japanese team continued its pressure, and Ayase Ueda almost increased the score in the sixth minute, before Dylan Bron saved Tunisia from a second goal in front of an empty goal in the ninth minute. Goalkeeper Ayman Dahman also excelled in the tenth minute and prevented Japan from doubling the score.
The Tunisian team struggled in building the game, and seemed outside the atmosphere of the match in the face of clear Japanese control. Although Tunisia got the first corner in the 15th minute, it did not succeed in effectively threatening the goal, while the offensive deficit remained clear with the passage of the first 20 minutes.
In the 31st minute, Ayase Ueda scored the second goal for Japan with a right-footed shot from the right side of the penalty area to the left corner of the floor, after a pass from Ko Itakura following a counterattack. The Japanese superiority continued until the end of the first half, despite Ayman Dahman’s intervention in the 43rd minute to clear a dangerous ball and prevent a third goal.
At the beginning of the second half, the Tunisian national team made two substitutions, with Amine Ben Hamida replacing Dylan Bron, and Ismail Gharbi replacing Elias Saad. But Japan started the half with high pressure throughout the field, and Tanaka shot a powerful ball in the 48th minute that passed near Dahmane's right post.
Tunisia tried to reduce the difference through Hannibal Mejbri in the 49th minute, but did not succeed in investing the attempt. After 10 minutes of the second half, the Tunisian team continued to suffer, as they lost the ball easily and failed to pose a threat to the goal.
In the 69th minute, Junya Ito added the third goal for Japan with a right-footed shot from the middle of the penalty area to the right corner of the floor, after a through pass from Ayase Ueda. After stopping to drink water, Tunisia tried to advance, and Elias Skhiri shot a ball in the 74th minute, but the Japanese defense intervened at the right time and removed the danger.
In the 83rd minute, Ayase Ueda scored the fourth goal for Japan with a header from the middle of the penalty area to the right corner of the floor, after a cross from Kaishu Sano, before he left a minute later and was replaced by Keisuke Goto.
In the final minutes, the Tunisian team was unable to threaten the goal or create an opportunity to reduce the difference, while the referee counted 6 minutes of stoppage time, before the match ended with Japan defeating Tunisia 4-0.
