The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, discussed at Baabda Palace this afternoon with the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Herve Magro, the general situation in the country in light of recent developments, in addition to the course of the Lebanese-American-Israeli negotiations ongoing in Washington.
The meeting dealt with following up on what was agreed upon between President Aoun and French President Emmanuel Macron regarding working to move communications to hold an international conference to support the Lebanese Army and the Internal Security Forces, a conference that had been postponed as a result of the recent Israeli war.
In a separate context, President Aoun received a member of the Democratic Gathering, MP Wael Abu Faour, where the current situation and political developments were presented, especially with regard to the course of the negotiations in Washington.
On the diplomatic level, the President of the Republic cabled to the Acting President of the Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, offering his condolences to the victims of the two violent earthquakes that struck the north of the country and whose magnitude exceeded 7 degrees on the Richter scale, causing major human and material losses and widespread destruction in the capital, Caracas, and other areas.
In his telegram, President Aoun expressed his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy, wishing mercy for the victims and a speedy recovery for the injured, and to inspire their families with patience and solace.
