US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that Israel and Lebanon are heirs to two ancient civilizations dating back to the time of the Bible, noting that the two countries are distinguished by two of the most entrepreneurial peoples in the world, and share some of the most beautiful coastlines on the face of the Earth.
Rubio added, “The framework agreement establishes a tripartite military coordination group for Lebanon, stressing that the Ministry of War is prepared to provide more than $30 million to the Lebanese army.”
He continued, "Washington will remain fully engaged, and will allocate significant resources, including $100 million in immediate humanitarian aid to Lebanon in coordination with the United Nations."
He pointed out that a clear and organized process has been put in place to restore Lebanon's sovereignty and disarm Hezbollah, pointing out that the framework agreement with Lebanon will return Israel to its borders if the threats end.
