Today, Monday, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a coordination meeting devoted to reviewing and accelerating the implementation of the Ministry of Communications’ plan to restore services in southern Lebanon, in the presence of Communications Minister Charles Al-Hajj, and officials of the “Ogero” Authority and “Alfa” and “Touch” companies. During the meeting, Minister Al-Hajj presented the executive plan that aims to restore communications in all safe areas during the coming days by conducting rapid maintenance, securing fuel, repairing energy networks, activating national roaming and deploying mobile stations, while giving absolute priority to the safety of field teams in coordination with the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL forces. For his part, President Salam praised the efforts of the maintenance teams that continued their work even during the war, stressing that the communications sector constitutes an essential pillar of the national recovery plan and contributes to facilitating the return of citizens and supporting reconstruction. The Minister of Communications stressed that the current goal is to keep people connected as a factor of safety, in preparation for the next stage based on building a more modern network based on fiber optics and fifth generation technologies.
