To benefit from experiences... Haider: We are working to raise the retirement age

Minister of Labor, Mohamed Haider, announced the start of preparations for the formation of the Social Security Board of Directors. The issue is not related to consensus, but rather to legally defined elections, and the board consists of ten members.
He added in the Serail Dialogues program: “We are working to raise the retirement age to 66 years to benefit from experiences, but this file still needs further study. The transition to the retirement system contributes to protecting employees, but the matter requires a number of implementation decrees.”
He pointed out that his greatest achievement with the Social Security Fund was the return to the advance system, stressing that foreign workers must be supportive of Lebanese workers and we must distinguish between legitimate sectors and illegal sectors, and the responsibility lies with employers. He explained that there is no sponsorship system, but there is a retirement system through the employment contract that is filed with notaries, and the name of the sponsor is on the workers’ public security card, regardless of who sponsors.
