Despite the attempts... Aoun: A return to the civil war is not on the cards

The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, thanked the “American Action Group for Lebanon” for its constant support for Lebanon and its people, and for its efforts to strengthen Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence, calling for support for the “framework formula” that was reached with Israel under American auspices.
During a video call with the group, Aoun stressed that the Lebanese army and security forces constitute the cornerstone of stability and security in the south, ensuring the return of the people to their areas and homes.
He stressed that "there is no place for civil war in Lebanon, and that its return to the scene is not on the table, despite all attempts aimed at awakening strife."
He also stressed the importance of the deployment of the Lebanese army along the border, calling for putting pressure on Israel to withdraw from the lands it occupies in Lebanon, considering that "the continued occupation undermines the legitimacy of the state, prevents the deployment of the army, and obstructs the foundations for achieving just and lasting peace."
He pointed out that if Israel continues to occupy Lebanese lands, this will not serve the goals set by the United States and Lebanon to restore the state’s sovereignty and independence and enhance the strength of its institutions.
