Hamada: The Lebanese authority bears responsibility for targeting civilians in southern Lebanon

Member of the Education Committee, MP Ihab Hamadeh, denounced the targeting of the director of the Youssef Salman Chamoun Kindergarten School, educator Esperanza Fakhri Ghandour, in an Israeli raid in the city of Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, which led to her martyrdom along with three others.
Hamadeh said, “Today, the Israeli enemy committed a horrific crime against civilians, adding to its record of massacres and acts targeting innocent women and children, in addition to targeting paramedics, medical teams, and media professionals.”
Hamadeh pointed out that the Israeli enemy targeted “a family in Nabatieh Al-Fawqa in cold blood, which led to four martyrs, under the pretext that it poses a danger and a threat, in an attempt to justify the deliberate killing of safe civilians.”
He pointed out that the continued targeting of civilians, blowing up villages, destroying homes, and committing massacres, in flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement, bears primarily responsibility for the Lebanese authority, as he put it, pointing out that it “gave up Lebanon’s sovereign rights and provided the enemy with a pretext through the framework agreement, which gives it cover to continue targeting people and destroying their homes, property, and livelihoods, and opens the door to interference in internal affairs and imposing dictates by force and threat.”
Hamadeh stressed the need for the Lebanese authority and its pillars to look into the national interest, and to abandon political maliciousness and narrow calculations, considering that “betting on the people of the country is more beneficial than betting on the outside world, which supports the enemy and contributes to the attack on Lebanon.” He concluded by emphasizing that adhering to the elements of strength, foremost among which is the unity of the Lebanese, is the best way to protect Lebanon, preserve its sovereignty, and defend its people in the face of what he described as ongoing aggression.
