US President Donald Trump said that the memorandum of understanding with Tehran has “ended,” stressing his unwillingness to enter into any future dealings with the Islamic Republic of Iran, whose officials he described as “sick.” Trump considered that the Iranians "are behind the problems in the region," adding that the United States "wasted a lot of time" dealing with Tehran. Trump reiterated his assertion that Iran will not be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon. Trump indicated that he is not satisfied with the position of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) regarding both Iran and Greenland, considering that the United States does not receive fair treatment within the alliance. He added that Washington spent more than a trillion dollars on protecting NATO, but he said that the alliance did not provide support to the United States in the face of what he described as "the first state sponsor of terrorism." He also considered that the United States contributes to NATO's funding disproportionately compared to the rest of the members, noting that Greenland represents a "big issue" for Washington.
