The head of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Representative Bilal Abdullah, wrote on his Facebook page: “The blatant attack on the director of Siblin Governmental Hospital, Dr. Rabie Seif Al-Din, is barbaric and backward behavior, and requires the most severe punishments to be imposed on whoever committed this despicable act, regardless of the reasons or motives.” He added: "It is an attack on a medical institution that has risen and is carrying out its duty towards its people and its region, and an attack on every doctor, nurse, and worker in this institution, who work day and night to serve their families and care for their health." He continued: “In light of the overcrowding that the hospital is witnessing, and the great pressure in the emergency department, some may consider that there has been a negligence or delay in providing a health service, but that does not justify anyone attacking any of the institution’s employees, so how about if the attack targeted its director, Dr. Rabih Seif Al-Din, in this brutal manner.” He pointed out that "the hospital director and all its employees work for modest wages, and they all work hard to do their duty, believing that their work is a humanitarian mission before it is a job." He stressed that "this institution, since its inception with the late Dr. Ahmed Abu Harfush, and in cooperation with its board of directors and all its employees, has spared no effort in securing everything in its power to serve our people and patients. In wars, during the Corona pandemic, and in light of the economic crisis, it has stood as an impenetrable barrier to protect the patient’s dignity and his right to health care." He added: "It is an attack on everyone who works to fortify this hospital, develop it, equip it and provide it with all the necessary capabilities to carry out its mission that its founder, Walid Jumblatt, wanted to care for patients. This is not how we reward those who watch over our health and safety in times of need." He said: "Siblin, Katermaya, Al-Wardaniya, and the other villages of Iqlim Al-Kharroub were and still are the main incubators of this medical facility, and the statement issued by the municipality of Katermaya is the best evidence of the gratitude of the people of the region for the sacrifices of all its workers, especially the hospital director and its board of directors." Abdullah concluded by wishing Dr. Rabie Saif Al-Din a speedy recovery, thanking and appreciating all the hospital workers for the services they provide, calling on the judiciary and the security services to follow up on the case and inflict fair retribution on the aggressor and anyone whose involvement or incitement the investigation proves, in a way that ensures that such attacks will not be repeated. He also thanked the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser Al-Din, for his diligent follow-up of the issue, his communications, and his insistence on protecting health sector workers.
