The Army Command confirmed that the military units carried out their deployment inside the western town of Zawtar after making the necessary contact and coordination with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), and did not enter the eastern town of Zawtar. It explained in a statement that the Israeli occupation forces approached the outskirts of the western town of Zawtar while members of the Lebanese Army were inside the town during the implementation of the deployment mission, and opened fire near them, which exposed the soldiers to danger and hindered the implementation of the mission assigned to them. She added, "The Israeli occupation army must address any problem through the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L) and through the approved coordination and communication channels, instead of carrying out attacks." The Israeli army had claimed that it "detected in the safe zone in southern Lebanon a Lebanese army force that crossed a distance of 150 meters into the safe zone, penetrating barriers in the eastern Zawtar region, and fired warning shots in the air."
