Agriculture Minister Nazzal Hani hoped that "the period following the President's visit to the United States will witness a practical translation of the positive atmosphere that accompanied the summit." Hani stressed that "the priority remains to begin a broad Israeli withdrawal and stop the ongoing acts of destruction." He pointed out that "the initial indicators, including the beginning of withdrawal from some villages, inspire optimism." Hani expressed his hope that "this pace will accelerate, allowing the return of the people and the completion of the liberation of the lands," and he believed that "any future negotiations must first focus on achieving actual withdrawals and stopping the attacks." The Minister of Agriculture revealed that “preliminary surveys prepared by the Ministry showed that the damages resulting from the war, in addition to the losses of the 2024 war, affected about 22.5% of the total agricultural areas in Lebanon, while the value of the losses exceeded one billion dollars.” He pointed out that "the Ministry has begun implementing a direct support program for farmers returning to their lands, to help them clean and prepare the lands in preparation for their rehabilitation, provided that this phase will later expand to include the rehabilitation of agricultural infrastructure, including irrigation networks, water ponds, greenhouses, and other production facilities." Regarding the resumption of exports to the Gulf countries, he concluded by stressing that “the basic obstacles facing Lebanese exports have been addressed, and that the platforms for obtaining export permits have become open to Lebanon.” He pointed to “continuing communication with the Saudi side to address some issues related to truck specifications,” and expressed his hope that “this week will witness the launch of land freight movement to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at an increasing pace, which will contribute to revitalizing Lebanese agricultural exports to Gulf markets.”
