Prime Minister Nawaf Salam confirmed, during his meeting with Iraqi President Nizar Amidi and Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, that Lebanon is resolutely proceeding with strengthening strategic connectivity and integration projects with countries in the region, especially in the energy, communications and transportation sectors, in a way that allows taking advantage of the opportunities imposed by the current transformations. Salam stressed that economic cooperation between the countries of the region constitutes a fundamental foundation for strength, stability and common prosperity, especially when it is based on a vision of achieving mutual benefits. He pointed out that Lebanon looks forward to being an active partner with Iraq in formulating these regional projects, thus opening new horizons for investment and supporting development paths and sustainable growth in the two countries. For his part, during the discussions held in Baghdad in the presence of a number of ministers from the two countries, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi stressed the depth of Iraqi-Lebanese relations and the keenness to develop them, stressing the importance of strengthening economic partnerships in various sectors. The discussions dealt with ways to consolidate bilateral relations in the economic, political and security fields, in addition to the prospects for developing joint cooperation to serve the interests of the Iraqi and Lebanese peoples.
