The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced today, Thursday, that the Central Narcotics Control Bureau thwarted two attempts to smuggle Captagon pills to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait, and seized 11 kilograms of narcotic pills that were professionally hidden inside children’s beds. She explained that the case began after the customs agency at Beirut Airport seized, on June 26, 2026, a postal package containing 4.5 kilograms of Captagon pills that was intended for smuggling to Saudi Arabia, which led to the arrest of the sender of the package on June 29, 2026 in the Riad Al-Solh area - Beirut. She added that, as a result of investigations and follow-up, a second smuggling operation was thwarted, as 6.5 kilograms of Captagon pills were seized, which were being prepared to be smuggled to the State of Kuwait through a shipping company, inside children’s beds, in coordination with the General Administration for Drug Control in Kuwait through the Criminal Security Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon, which resulted in the arrest of one of those involved in Kuwait and the seizure of a quantity of drugs in his possession. She confirmed that the legal requirements were carried out against the detainee, while work is still underway to arrest the rest of those involved, in coordination with the competent judiciary.
