Geagea: We will continue to support the general amnesty law until it is approved

The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, said: Yesterday, the House of Representatives approved the law abolishing the death penalty, in a very important step, both on the humanitarian level, and on the level of the civilized world’s view of Lebanon.
It is worth noting that we had submitted this project in February 2012, through former MP Elie Kayrouz, after which successive representatives of the Strong Republic bloc returned to work on it and tried to push it forward, especially in the recent period, when the Administration and Justice Committee focused on finalizing all its details and sending it to the General Assembly.
Congratulations to the Lebanese on this law, because it is an essential step on the path to Lebanon’s civilization, light and radiance that we have always dreamed of.
We strongly hope that the amnesty law will pass, as many obstacles have been placed in its path. We are determined to continue supporting it until it is passed.
