After the meeting, Engineer Saqlawi said: “We were honored by the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Nabih Berri, especially as we are on the cusp of receiving the available tobacco crops from farmers. We came to be guided and listen to the directives of His Excellency the President, who has always been and still is the primary incubator and sponsor of the family of tobacco farmers.” He added: "The truth is that we are facing a tragedy that befell farmers. The Israeli aggression caused the displacement of thousands of farmers from their villages and towns, such as Aita al-Shaab and Aitaroun, Mays al-Jabal, Tulin, al-Sawwanah, Hadada, Kafr Benit, Srifa, and many other villages that constitute agricultural centers of gravity. More than 80 percent of the crop was not planted, and the rest were limited cases added to the town of Rmeish, which was planted despite the siege.
