Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri affirmed in a letter addressed to the Islamic Unity Conference held in Tehran that the most dangerous thing facing the Islamic world today is not that its jurisprudence is multiplied, but rather that disagreement turns into rupture, doctrine into fanaticism, politics into strife, and religion into a tool in conflict. He pointed out that "Islamic unity is not an impossible dream, but it requires courage, stressing that the courage to admit that we made a mistake when we made some of our differences bigger than our major issues, the courage to transcend sensitivities, the courage to listen to the other, and the courage to put the public interest ahead of narrow calculations." He pointed out that “Islamic unity is not the responsibility of one world over another, nor a sect without a sect, nor a state without a state; It is the responsibility of everyone who believes that the strength of a nation lies in its unity, that its dignity lies in its solidarity, and that its future lies in its ability to transform diversity into wealth, difference into dialogue, and faith into action.”
