The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the keenness of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to establish good relations with the Lebanese government, stressing that Lebanon seeks the best relations with all countries, including Iran. The Ministry stressed its adoption of rationality, openness, and a constructive spirit in approaching issues, expecting all of its counterparts to adopt the same approach. She stressed that "rationality in relations between countries first assumes dealing with countries through their constitutional and legitimate institutions, and not with parties or factions within them." She added: “Just as Iran, or any other host country, will not accept that the Lebanese ambassador bypasses its official institutions to deal with parties or factions in isolation from them, Lebanon does not accept that either.” She concluded by emphasizing that “relations between countries are built with and through countries, and respect for sovereignty is a mutual principle that does not tolerate selectivity or transgression.”
