The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, discussed with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Social Security Fund the new beginning of the Security Board of Directors. Aoun pointed out after the meeting that “the fund is for all Lebanese and is not a sectarian or partisan fund, stressing that its responsibility is to work to ensure social security for the Lebanese and provide services in a modern and transparent manner.” Aoun considered that the Fund's mission is to preserve public funds, especially end-of-service funds for insured persons, and to secure adequate health coverage for them after their retirement. Aoun stressed that corruption is the main problem in Lebanon, pointing out that fighting it is through a strong and impartial judiciary and through digital transformation. In turn, Al-Asmar said: “The President put us in the atmosphere of a new start for the Security Board of Directors, and working to increase contributions and move from end-of-service compensation to the retirement system.” Al-Asmar stressed the effort to reconfigure compensation for those who left work between 2019 and 2024, and to expand the umbrella of insurance to include new categories, in addition to developing mechanization.
