The Political Bureau of the Lebanese Phalange Party held its meeting, headed by Vice President Bernard Gerbaka, and discussed political, economic and social developments.
The party called on the government to move immediately from decisions to implementation, and to put a final end to the presence of weapons outside the authority of the state, starting with declaring Beirut demilitarized and extending to all Lebanese territories, thus consolidating the exclusivity of security and military decisions in the hands of Lebanese legitimacy.
He stressed that the state's restoration of the decision to war and peace constitutes a necessary step to end the war, liberate the occupied Lebanese territories, create conditions for the return of the displaced, and launch the reconstruction workshop, in addition to restoring the confidence of the Arab countries and the international community in Lebanon.
He warned of the worsening economic and social distress as winter approaches, in light of the rise in prices and the decline in purchasing power, calling on the state to take urgent measures to ease the burdens on citizens, instead of imposing new taxes and fees.
He called for securing treasury resources by combating smuggling and tax evasion, controlling waste, and enhancing collection, stressing that addressing the crisis begins with stopping the war and restoring stability, allowing for the mobilization of support for the army and financing recovery and reconstruction.
He also warned of the danger of the escalation of extremist and inflammatory political and religious rhetoric, calling on the state to protect children and new generations from division, violence and hatred, and to pass the necessary legislation to protect them from harmful content and exploitation through social media sites.
