President Joseph Aoun stressed that protecting Lebanon and its people and avoiding the scourge of war are the main goals of the negotiations, stressing his openness to any option and path that can contribute to achieving these goals. During his meeting with the delegation of the “Bekaa Meeting for Development and Belonging,” Aoun stressed the importance of strengthening the state’s presence in the Bekaa and supporting development projects, especially the Beirut-Bekaa project, the Arab Highway, and the Lebanese University complex, in addition to paying attention to the Litani River. Aoun also praised the positions of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, especially his adherence to the army and the Taif Agreement and considering them among the basic constants of civil peace, considering that Berri’s positions constitute “a message to the interior before it is to the outside.” Aoun stressed that facing challenges requires national unity and internal solidarity, calling for not wasting the opportunities available to Lebanon due to narrow calculations
