The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: “Within the framework of the continuous follow-up carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat various crimes on all Lebanese territories, and after the information division became available with data about the kidnapping of a woman, on August 9, 2026, a child aged about one year from his family’s home located in the Antelias locality, the specialized divisions in the division began their field and information procedures to uncover the circumstances of the operation, identify those involved, and arrest them. As a result of the follow-up, one of the Division’s patrols was able, on 8/12/2026, to arrest a suspect in the Al-Awza’i locality (born in 1999, Lebanese), and the kidnapped child was with him, (born in 2025, Syrian nationality). Upon interrogation of the detainee, he reported that he had received the child from a woman with whom he was in a relationship, and that she had misled him that the child was his. As a result of extensive surveys and investigations, the Division was able to identify the woman suspected of involvement in the kidnapping, who is of an Arab nationality, and determine her whereabouts. On August 16, 2026, after careful monitoring and tracking, a special force from the division was able to arrest her. Upon interrogation, she admitted that she had known the child’s mother about a month ago, and had begun to get close to her, and that she had been sending the above-mentioned person, with whom she was seeking a relationship, selfies of the child, whom she later kidnapped, deceiving him that the child was his son, with the aim of pressuring him to marry her. The child was returned to his family, the legal requirements were carried out against her, and she was referred to the relevant district, based on the reference of the competent judiciary.”
