“There is no poor country.” Joseph Aoun: The state mismanaged Lebanon’s capabilities

President Joseph Aoun stressed that reform begins from the inside, not from the outside, pointing out that Lebanon is rich in human potential both at home and abroad, and it is vital to activate these energies and give them the appropriate opportunities.
President Aoun considered that the current crisis cannot be summarized as only an economic crisis, but rather a crisis of confidence between the state and the people, and between Lebanon and abroad.
He said before the General Assembly of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council: “You, with your council and individual capabilities, constitute the bridge to rebuild this trust. We are counting on you in that and supporting you in your tasks based on the importance of activating your role in this context in addition to your tasks.”
He added: "You must play your role even in the laws issued in the Parliament. Do not tolerate it and do not allow anyone to take your place."
President Aoun hoped that "the current crisis will end and with it the suffering of the Lebanese people, especially our people in the south, to put Lebanon back on track."
He said: "If all the world's wealth was found in our land and there was no sound will, it would be impossible to invest in these wealth, as there is no country that is bankrupt, rich or poor. Rather, there is a country whose capabilities the state has mismanaged, and this is the Lebanese reality."
He added: "I am continuing my efforts to reopen Arab markets, especially the Gulf, to Lebanese products. We are also working to restore confidence, which has been shaken due to several factors in the recent period."
