Lebanon continues its contacts: We welcome any agreement that leads to stopping the war in the south
Fady Mahouly
Official sources told LBCI that official Lebanon has not yet been informed of any information about what the Lebanese front might witness in the event of an Iranian-American agreement, but it welcomes any agreement that leads to a complete cessation of the war in Lebanon and a halt to the operations taking place in the south.
The sources pointed out that if what Lebanon will obtain through any US-Iranian agreement is a ceasefire, then Lebanon is already in the ceasefire period, which was extended for 45 days after the last round of negotiations in which official Lebanon participated, but Israel did not adhere to it.
The sources confirmed that official Lebanon has taken its decision that it is negotiating on its own behalf and is not a negotiating card in anyone’s hand, and Iran wants to link Lebanon to its negotiations with America in order to tell Hezbollah that it has not abandoned it, but the Lebanese state adheres to its decision in terms of its uniqueness in the decision to negotiate and separate the two tracks.
She stressed that Lebanon has been working since the last meeting in Washington with the negotiating team to stabilize the fragile ceasefire and is in contact with the American side for a comprehensive cessation of operations in all of Lebanon, but it has not yet received any clear answer.
