The General Directorate of the Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced that “in response to what is being circulated on some social media regarding the seizure of a vehicle within the scope of the Zgharta Detachment and the claim that this detachment organized reports amounting to 140 million Lebanese pounds and the accompanying talk about regional discretion or harsh treatment,” it would like to clarify the following:
1- The car was seized by the military police on the grounds of a shooting offense against its owner.
2- She was handed over, based on the reference of the competent judiciary, to the Zgharta police station on 5/6/2026, and not to the Zgharta traffic detachment as is being reported, in order to prepare reports of the violations recorded against her.
3- As a result of checking the legality of the car, it was revealed that there were violations: driving without a driving license, wrecks, using a forged license plate, and operating a vehicle on diesel in an irregular manner. The records were organized according to the rules and referred to the competent judicial authority.
4- Determining the value of fines for these violations is not up to the Internal Security Forces or traffic police, but rather to the competent judicial authority.
The Internal Security Forces called on citizens to be precise before publishing or circulating inaccurate information that may cause tension, stressing that the relationship between the Internal Security Forces and citizens is based on trust, respect and cooperation.
