What France requested from the Security Council regarding Lebanon

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council regarding the ongoing escalation between Lebanon and Israel, stressing that nothing justifies the continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
Barrow said: “It is acceptable to recognize Israel’s right to self-defense against the Hezbollah attacks that dragged Lebanon into war since March 2, but nothing justifies the prolongation of Israeli military operations and its daily deepening occupation of Lebanese territory,” stressing that “this is a big mistake for Israel, because the prolongation and occupation contradicts its obligations after signing the ceasefire on April 17, and is contrary to international law and does not serve Israel’s interests.”
He warned that "every village that is bombed and every victim that falls strengthens Hezbollah in the long term," noting that "Israeli expansion in Lebanon exacerbates the crisis and does not serve regional stability."
