The Wall Street Journal reported, citing US officials, that US President Donald Trump secretly told his aides that he might reconsider the existing ceasefire with Iran and resume a full-scale war if any Iranian attack resulted in the death of US soldiers.
The newspaper indicated that Trump is still adhering to the current truce despite the continuation of limited confrontations and mutual attacks between the two sides during the past weeks.
The report indicated that Trump still believes in the possibility of reaching an agreement that will end the confrontation with Iran, lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and address the issue of the Iranian nuclear program and the stockpile of enriched uranium.
