Dar Al-Fatwa issued the following statement: “We have not confirmed the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal, and therefore tomorrow, Thursday, March 19, is the day that completes the thirty-day period of the blessed month of Ramadan, and Friday, March 20, 2026 AD, is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH.
As we congratulate Muslims on this blessed occasion, we ask God Almighty to accept their fasting, prayers, good deeds and supplications, and to bring it back to them in particular, and to all the Lebanese with goodness, security and reassurance. Indeed, He Almighty is the Hearer and Answerer.
The Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, commissioned the Fatwa Secretary of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, to perform the Eid Al-Fitr prayer and sermon at six-thirty in the morning on the day of Eid in the Seal of the Prophets and Messengers Muhammad Al-Amin Mosque, may God bless him and grant him peace, in the commercial center of Beirut.
The Mufti of the Republic apologizes for receiving Eid well-wishers.”
