Former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, said, “The framework agreement is not a tripartite agreement, but rather a unilateral agreement dictated by Israel to a Lebanese team abroad and at home with limited experience in law and diplomacy.” Jumblatt stressed that peace with Israel is "impossible." Jumblatt considered that "this treaty is a 'dictation' and it did not mention Israeli withdrawal," pointing out that "this is what happens when the fate of the country is taken over by some groups that have no experience in international politics and whose only concern is power." For his part, Sheikh Akl of the Druze Unitarian sect, Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Muna, stressed the necessity of reaching an understanding “with all parties to achieve the liberation of the land and avoid a slide towards the worst.” He pointed out that "the United Nations and concerned countries must intervene and do their part to prevent any new invasion."
