The Presidency of the Republic said that the meeting between President Joseph Aoun and his American counterpart, Donald Trump, emphasized the historic partnership between Lebanon and the United States, and focused on the security, political, and economic priorities necessary to enhance Lebanon’s stability and prosperity. She indicated in a statement that President Aoun stressed the urgent need for complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, stressing that this constitutes an essential step to consolidate stability, enable the Lebanese state to extend its full sovereignty, exclusively by its own forces, and move forward in implementing the joint tripartite framework of action. She pointed out that Aoun reviewed before Trump “the catastrophic repercussions of the recent war on Lebanon, and the human and economic losses it caused and massive damage to infrastructure throughout Lebanese territory.” She confirmed that the two sides discussed strengthening American support for the Lebanese army, developing cooperation between the two countries in all fields, in addition to supporting the path of economic recovery and reconstruction, and encouraging American investments in Lebanon. President Aoun raised the importance of restoring direct air connectivity between Lebanon and the United States.
