Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed to the WISE platform that he is waiting to know what happened in the bilateral meetings held in Washington, and the extent of commitment to translating Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon.
Regarding the possibility of meeting with President Joseph Aoun after his return from Washington, Berri said, “There is communication.”
Regarding US President Donald Trump’s talk about the possibility of Syrian intervention in Lebanon, Berri made it clear that he was not afraid of that, noting that “there are no Syrian or Lebanese indications of an intention to intervene or create tensions.”
As for the visit of Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to Zawtar al-Gharbiya, Berri said that it was a “symbolic visit coordinated with him,” explaining that he received a call from Salam and advised him to go early and coordinate with the Lebanese army, given that the Israeli army “did not stop firing.”
