Representative Ashraf Rifi welcomed the visit of President Joseph Aoun to Washington. He wrote on his account on the “X” platform: “We welcome the successful visit of the President of the Republic to the United States, and the visit of the Prime Minister to the south, and we consider them the beginning of a national path to restore Lebanon’s free decision and its natural position among countries. It is a golden opportunity to free Lebanon from the Iranian prison that has shackled the state and isolated it from its surroundings and the world. What is required today is to move from positions to full implementation of the framework, in order to achieve Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, dismantle Iran’s weapons in Lebanon, and deploy the Lebanese army along the Blue Line, so that it alone is the guarantor of sovereignty and security. We also hope that the relationship with the United States will result in effective support for Lebanon, protecting its sovereignty, strengthening its legitimate institutions, and opening the door to reconstruction and the return of southerners to their villages and towns under the protection of their state and army, and not under any weapon outside legitimacy. The time has come to completely separate Lebanon from regional axes, and restore the decision of war and peace to the state alone. Lebanon cannot remain an arena for other people’s conflicts or a hostage to an Iranian project that has confiscated the will of the Lebanese. We salute His Excellency the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and all those working to restore the state. Lebanon deserves to be a sovereign, free and independent state, governed by the constitution and the law, and whose children create their future by their will alone.”
