Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that the people of the south “are not alone” at this stage, stressing that the state will return with them and to them, in conjunction with working to facilitate their return to their villages and towns. Salam chaired a meeting that included the President of the Southern Council, Hashem Haider, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Relief Commission, Brigadier General Bassam Al-Nabulsi, and the Head of the Disaster Management Unit in the Serail, Zahi Shaheen, where practical steps were discussed to facilitate the return of people to their areas. Salam indicated that the goal of his visit yesterday to Zawtar al-Gharbiyya was to confirm to the people of the south that the state will not be satisfied with restoring the land, but will accompany them on the path of return, starting with the deployment of the army and security forces, through opening roads, removing rubble, and restoring basic services, all the way to securing the requirements for a dignified return and temporary and transitional housing, including prefabricated homes. He stressed that the state's ministries, institutions and councils will be mobilized to accomplish this mission, stressing that the state will be present with all its capabilities to launch the path of return and early recovery.
